Have Some Fun in the Sun

Vermont is an outdoor paradise during the summer. We’re lucky to be located in Stowe and surrounded by endless activities for all seasons. Without traveling far, we can find activities for everyone in the family to enjoy. Within the village of Stowe there are many outdoor, indoor, and educational ventures for all ages.

If your vacation in the Green Mountain State allows, it’s also fun to explore the options beyond Stowe.

For some outdoor fun close by, Stowe has many mountain biking trails of varying difficulties for all ability levels, as well as road biking trails for families looking for a more leisurely ride.

Spend an afternoon touring the beautiful Green Mountain State from any of the free trails in and around Stowe.

Zip Lining

(~20 minutes from Sun & Ski)

Take your adventure to the next level and fly through the trees on a zip line. ArborTrek Canopy Adventures has guided zip line tours, as well as obstacle courses, climbing areas, and courses for small children.

Lamoille River Paddling

For families looking for a bit more adventure, challenge yourselves to a paddling trip along the Lamoille River. The Lamoille River Paddlers Trail has worked with the community to create safe and exciting paddling trails along the river.

Suitable for older children and teenagers, there are options for day and overnight trips.

Waterbury Reservoir at Waterbury Center State Park

Waterbury Center State Park is a summertime gem located a short drive from our front door! Enjoy pristine waters, great for kids to splash around, or rent a kayak or boat for the day and explore a bit.

The park offers a great grassy area, picnic tables, grills, and restrooms. There is even a sandy beach for little ones to dig and build.

Learn Something New

Shelburne Museum

Filling over 30 buildings and grounds, Shelburne Museum is not your typical museum. Indoor and outdoor events will get your family excited about learning in this local treasure.

With activities for all ages, Shelburne Museum has daily family-oriented activities and special events, like the Circuspalooza festival on July 14. Spend a day admiring the permanent collection, learning about the history of Vermont and New England, and riding the carousel.


Learn more about our gorgeous Lake Champlain at the Echo Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. This organization has daily events throughout the season that will excite and educate the kids.

From live animal exhibits to the hands-on Action Lab, to the 3D movie theater, there is something for everyone to learn.

Relax with the Whole Family

Finally, for nightlife the whole family can enjoy, check out any of the popular shopping districts, like Stowe Village or Church Street in Burlington (~1 hour from S&S). After a long day in the sun, take a break and visit the many delicious restaurants and unique shops that Vermont has to offer.


On Church Street, try Penny Cluse Cafe for classic American-style bistro or American Flatbread for a yummy Italian-inspired pizza.

Taking a ride or stroll along the bike path? Check out the Creemee Silo at Tres Amigos restaurant, open Saturdays and Sundays.

Stowe Golf Park and Stowe Bowl

Of course, we encourage everyone to check out our golf in miniature park and bowling lounge!

Bring out your fiercest competition in a game on our 18-hole course (loser buys ice cream!), or get your bowl on while enjoying our incredible menu and specialty drinks.
