Sun & Ski Inn and Suites Stowe, Vermont

Forging family bonds in Stowe, VermontOn March 19th we completed the temporary shut down of our hotel, restaurant and attractions business at the Sun & Ski Inn and Suites in Stowe Vermont due to the COVID-19 outbreak. With no guests and forced to send all of our employees home, we decided to move our family into the hotel to hold down the fort.

We won’t sugarcoat it: This has been a hard situation for us, being bereft of revenue#keepthelightons while the bills keep piling up. But we find solace in the fact that thousands of other operators are going through the same ordeals. And we urge them to stay strong and #keepthelighton.

During the time we were closed we were unable to fulfill our purpose as hoteliers of providing in person experiences for our guests. Nevertheless, we have stayed positive and kept our sign lights on as a symbol of hope and future. We’ve kept the light on within ourselves by sharing our story and some quality and “light” moments with our family here at the hotel.

Since May 22nd we have started the re-opening process for Vermont guests and since June 8th for guests around New England and New York. The re-opening process continues.

Nothing is more meaningful than giving back to our community and our guests. This is why we launched two different initiatives described below.

Hospitality Heroes

The hospitality industry has been the first and one of the hardest hit industries during this pandemic. We are thankful that the government has stepped in with relief through flexible and extra unemployment benefits. However, this might not be enough to meet the needs of our staff. We are donating all Stowe Bowl gift card sales to our staff between April 1st and May 15th. Gift cards will retain 100% of their value and 100% of funds will be given to our staff in need at the Sun & Ski Inn, Stowe Bowl and Stowe Golf Park.

Getaways for the Front Line

While many of us are able to stay safe and stay home, there are others who are fighting this pandemic on the front lines, putting themselves and their families at risk. We are forever indebted to nurses, doctors, cleaning staff, grocery store workers, postal workers and delivery drivers for their sacrifice. As a thank you we are donating 100 room nights to random workers within these categories. We are also donating 100 games of bowling or miniature golf to our surrounding community. When it is safe for our businesses to open and travel is permitted, we look forward to welcoming these heroes to our property for rest, fun and family memories.

We want to thank all of our guests for their on-going support over the years. We look forward to keeping the connection with you during these uncertain and challenging times. We hope you enjoy some light moments from our family below.
