Sights and Smells of Fall in Stowe
Fall in Stowe, Vermont will stimulate the senses. From the crisp cool mornings to the smells of burning wood and apple cider, to the firey oranges and reds of the turning trees, the visit will live with you forever. Pictures and stories from others can capture some, but not all of what you will feel, taste, smell and see. There is only one choice! Come and experience it for yourself!
Apples: cider, donuts, and spirits for the picking
When you arrive at the Sun & Ski Inn we will start your stay with warm apple cider and homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. That is only the beginning of your apple experience in Stowe and the surrounding areas. For apple picking we recommend Hunger Mountain Orchard just a short drive away. Continue on and you will find delicious apple cider donuts at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill where they also sell other Vermont food specialties and gifts. Finally, looking for a unique adult apple beverage? Vermont Ice Apple Cream from Boyden Valley Winery will tintilate your taste buds. They Boyden Valley Winery just over Smugglers Notch in Cambridge, Vermont is well worth a visit.
Leaves by car or by boat
Stowe, Vermont is a mecca for fall foliage leaf peeping. There are numerous driving routes that will show you the most beautiful tree colors you have ever seen. At check-in at the Sun & Ski Inn and Suites we will provide you with some of our favorites. We also strongly recommend reserving a foliage boat tour with the Fly Rod Shop. This is really a one of a kind experience. We are so enthusiastic about leaf peeping by boat that we created a special package with discounted tickets when you book our Deluxe Suite this fall.
Pumpkins of all sizes to take home
Before you leave, take a piece of fall home with you. Across from the Shaw's supermarket there is a farm selling pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colors. Our family traditionally visits every year to pick out our favorite pumpkins together.
